- Install WordPress On Your Website In Fewer Steps
Wordpress is an opensource which can be installed on a website for different types of websites. Originally WordPress has been developed for a blogging website but one can also customize WordPress for any type of website like portfolio, business, personal and etc. In this tutorial I will let you to learn how to install WordPress on your live hosting server:
First of all you should download WordPress from original WordPress website. You can download WordPress from here.
Create MySQL Database
Since we are going to install WordPress on our live hosting server, we need to create a database first. Create MySQL Database on your live server in following steps:
– Login to CPANEL of your website with valid credentials
– Go to Databases Section and Click Database Wizard
– Enter Database Name, Database User Name & Password
– Check all Previllages
– Save Database Name, Database User Name and Password in a Notepad File
Rename & Edit Wp-Config.php
After you have successfully created database with user name and password. It is time to edit wp-config.php file. I am assuming that you have already downloaded WordPress from the link I have provided above. It will be a zipped file, so unzip it and go to root folder of unzipped folder.
There you will see a file named “wp-config-sample.php”, rename it to “wp-config.php”. After you have renamed it, open it in any code editor like Dreamweaver. Locate following line of code and put in your database name you have recently created:
Now locate following line of code and enter database user name for the database you have recently created:
Now located following line of code and enter database password for the database you have recently created:
It is now time to update database host name which can be updated on following line of code:
Most often database host is “localhost” but if you server has different host, you can ask them and they will surely guide you.
Once all the changes are done, save the file with all the changes you have recently done.
Upload WordPress Files to Live Server
It is now time to upload WordPress files to live server. Upload all root folder files to public_html folder of your website. You can use FileZilla to upload files.
Once files are uploaded to Live Server, It is now time to install WordPress. Simply access your website and you will see installation screen. Follow the instructions of installer and sooner you will see WordPress installed on your Live Server.
